This is the last in a series of six Zoom meetings to discuss Rabbi Alan Lew's guidebook to the High Holidays, from Tisha B'Av through Sukkot. Join us for 45-minute discussions and meditation on each of the steps in this ancient journey of transformation. On October 6th, Jason Weiss and Elizabeth Greene will lead a discussion on the Epilogue (Sukkot).
We will gather on October 10 to celebrate Shemini Atzeret, a Jewish holiday many of us do not know much about – but will learn about by experiencing it together. Sometimes considered the last day of Sukkot, and sometimes a holiday in its own right, Shemini Atzeret is a time when we close off the cycle of holidays that began with Rosh ha-Shanah, sweep away the final remnants of the year just past, and fully welcome in and open up to the new Jewish year. Come expecting music, meaningful prayer (including Yizkor prayers to remember our loved ones who have passed on), and the joy and support of your Kol Ami community.
Our services are open to the community at large. Please email Coordinator@KolAmiVirginia for registration information.
JCEP Families and Kol Amites in general are invited to join in for this family friendly, online Simchat Torah celebration! Did you think we wouldn't dance on Simchat Torah? We've invited Mo Brachfeld to lead us in online dance moves -- hand dances, foot dances, we'll celebrate Torah with our rhythm and bodies! Then we'll honor each book of the Torah with our members' selections of a favorite character or teaching. And we'll close with a good old dance party to Israeli pop music. Good for all ages!
