June is LGBT Pride Month. It marks the anniversary of the 1969 uprising at New York City's Stonewall Inn, an event that galvanized the modern LGBT liberation movement. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people declared we would no longer be ashamed of who we were, and would live with pride
This year, Kol Ami will have its Second Annual Pride Shabbat. We invite all members of our community, LGBT and allies, young and old, to join together for this special Shabbat service. We will sing, pray, study the Torah, and celebrate being a Jewish community where all of us, whoever we are, feel welcome and can live with pride. Our rabbi emerita, Leila Gal Berner, will be appearing on video as our guest speaker.

Join Kol Ami for a provocative discussion about the future of American Judaism featuring guest speaker Ron Kampeas, Washington Bureau Chief, Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA). His discussion will talk about trends in Jewish voting. The Democratic-Republican split in the community for decades has been 75 percent voting Democratic and 25 percent voting Republican, with some variations. Democrats are endeavoring to keep the majority of what they see as a key voting bloc, and Republicans want to make inroads. How might those numbers change in coming years?
