Yom Ha’Shoah: Northern Virginia’s 2018 Holocaust Commemoration

Posted on April 8, 2018

April 8, 2018 @ 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm –

Each year we join together as a Northern Virginia community to remember the Holocaust. The 2018 Yom Ha’Shoah Commemoration will take place at the JCC Northern Virginia. This year’s commemoration focuses on “Hate Speech and the Holocaust,” with lessons that are ever more relevant to the actions we take today. A Teen Program will run from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Teens will confront hate speech from the Holocaust and today, and discuss how our responses make a difference. An art exhibit with the focus on “Unto every person there is a name” runs from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. From 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, there will be a memorial service honoring the survivors, victims and heroes of the Holocaust, with readings from Holocaust survivors and survivors of hate speech.
