Kol Ami — The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community

Chanukah party

December 2, 2018, 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington
4444 Arlington Blvd.
Arlington, VA 22204

Join us for an old-fashioned Chanukah party! We’ll light Chanukah menorahs and sing songs. We’ll eat latkes and other veggie potluck food. We’ll play with dreidels, and have a program with Rabbi Gilah. We’ll also introduce our new members at Kol Ami, and extend them a warm welcome.

Chanukah is celebrated this year from December 2 through December 10. The holiday recalls the successful rebellion by the Jewish Maccabees against religious repression and occupation by the Syrian-Greek empire. Although Chanukah is a relatively minor holiday in Jewish tradition, it has become filled with greater meaning and visibility with its themes of lighting the darkness and standing up for religious freedom. Please bring your own Chanukah menorahs and candles to add to the light; we’ll be in the Activity Room.
