On November 1, Kol Ami will be joining with the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (JCADA) in participating in “Purple Shabbat,” designed to bring awareness to the issue of domestic abuse. You can find more information about Purple Shabbat here.
We’ll welcome Shabbat with prayers and songs, and celebrate the story of Noah, which gave us the rainbow as the sign of the covenant. This Shabbat we’ll focus on one of the colors of the rainbow: purple. Purple is a color that, among other things, represents increasing our awareness of domestic violence. In addition to bringing dairy and vegetarian desserts (left over Halloween candy?), please wear purple or bring a favorite purple object. The service will be led by Herb Levy.
