Selichot services are like previews on Broadway — a work in progress that allows us to fine tune our preparations for the High Holidays. We’ll be reminding ourselves of some traditional prayers as well as learning some new melodies, and together we’ll explore the nature of apologizing and why it’s so difficult. A useful starting point is Harriet Lerner’s latest book, Why Won’t You Apologize? Healing Big Betrayals and Everyday Hurts. We’ll gather in the Chapel and mark the end of Shabbat with a Havdalah service.
