Kol Ami — The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community

Hebrew Reading Class

April 16, 2017, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Target Audience: The course is designed for people with differing skill levels: complete beginners; imperfect readers; rusty readers; slow readers; and readers confused by Sephardi and Ashkenazi pronunciations.

Guarantee: At the end of the course you will be a fluent Hebrew reader, if you do your part, practice 30 minutes a day.

Schedule: We’ll meet every Sunday (including holidays), 10:30 am-12 noon, beginning April 16, and ending June 25th.  Classes are held at a member’s house in Falls Church.

Textbooks: The required textbook is Shalom Aleichem by Noah Golinkin.  The book is out of print but used copies are available online.  (I have two extra copies for those who need it).  In addition, the Reconstructionist siddur Kol Haneshamah: Shabbat Ve’hagim, the siddur used by Kol Ami, is highly recommended but not required.  You can obtain a copy from the Reconstructionist website, www.jewishrecon.org.

Save the date: At the conclusion of the course, we’ll celebrate our achievements with a Friday night service on July 14th.  Save the date!
