June is LGBT Pride Month, commemorating the 1969 launch of the contemporary movement of lesbians, gay males, bisexual people, and people of all genders and gender expressions for rights and freedom. It celebrates that, in our time, LGBT people make welcome contributions to the rainbow of diversity, in Judaism and beyond, and live with pride. And it recognizes that the fight for LGBT freedom is far from over.
Kol Ami will be celebrating our third annual Pride Shabbat this year. We hope many of you, both LGBT and allies, will come out (pun intended 😊) and join in a proud, affirming Shabbat together in our community. This service will be appropriate for all; families are invited to bring their children, and everyone is invited to bring along friends.
Rabbi Richard Ruth and his husband Jim North will be co-leading, with contributions from several other members of Kol Ami. Count on prayers, music, learning, and sharing a proud and happy time together.
