Come early for coffee and schmoozing — from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. The service will begin promptly at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary, led by Rabbi Gilah and Michael Linick. Our focus this morning will be on opening the gates of our nation and our hearts — to refugees and immigrants. Our Torah readings recall the experiences of our ancestors Abraham and Sarah, and of Hagar and Ishmael — all of whom journeyed as immigrants and experienced the ordeal of having to leave their homes. We will hear the voices of contemporary immigrants and refugees, and pray for their safety and our own compassionate responses to their plight. At noon, our children will join us for the shofar service and the concluding prayers. Please stay till 12:30 for apples and honey, and then a Tashlich walk to symbolically cast out our failings and habits that no longer serve us well.
