Kol Ami — The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community

Shabbat Healing Service and Observance of Shavuot

June 8, 2019, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington
4444 Arlington Blvd.
Arlington, VA 22204

A combination of prayers, poems, meditations, and songs will lift and comfort you.  Our three themes, touched on throughout, are Loving Kindness, Hope and Courage.

Everyone is encouraged to come with a healing intention or intentions – a hope or aspiration for yourself, a friend or loved one who is need of healing, or the wider circle of community, nation or world.  At the start of the service, we’ll have everyone write these down (anonymously); later, we’ll read them aloud and carry them in our hearts and minds in a guided exercise led by Dr. Richard Ruth.

The Torah will be chanted, and lessons drawn from the experience of our ancestors journeying through the wilderness.  And our spirits will be raised through the musical contributions of Jim North and two talented young people, Jerry Achtermann and Sarah Baumgarten.

We’ll be in the chapel downstairs at the UU, beginning at 10:00.  Please bring a dairy or vegetarian dish to share.
