A new school year is about to launch, and, a few weeks later, a new Jewish year, full of promise and possibilities. So please come join your Kol Ami community for a festive late summer Shabbat! Some highlights to anticipate:
– Blowing the shofar! It is traditional to blow and hear the shofar each morning during the Jewish month of Elul, leading up to Rosh ha-Shanah. So if you have a shofar at home, and especially if you attended Rabbi Gilah’s shofar blowing workshop and you’ve been practicing, please bring your shofar and prepare to make a joyful noise.
– Blessings for teachers and students! If you’re heading into a new academic year, as a student or a teacher at any level, preschool to graduate/professional school, come receive your community’s blessings for a successful year. And JCEP and Pizza and Talmud participants – this includes you.
– Prayers, music, Torah study, and special prayers for those in need of healing. In other words – everything that makes a Kol Ami Shabbat special.
Don’t have a Kol Haneshama Shabbat siddur (prayer book) at home? Everything you need – Hebrew, transliteration, English – will be screen-shared.
Richard Ruth will be leading the prayers and Torah study and Jim North will be leading the music. See you there!
