Shabbat morning service with Shirat HaNefesh

December 19, 2020, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Rabbi Gilah will be leading services on this Shabbat of parashat Miketz as we follow the up and down adventures of Joseph.  The speaker this morning is Matt Adler (pictured) who  returned from an extended stay in Israel with a fascinating perspective as a gay Jew speaking both Hebrew and Arabic.  Matt will shed light on the less-seen parts of this country he’s fallen in love with, and will  share with us his adventures in Jewish, Muslim, and Druze communities that are described in his recently published book.   Zoom links will be available to members in our e-newsletter, or by request for visitors at .

Matt Adler is a proud American and Israeli. A native of Washington, D.C., Matt lived in the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood of Tel Aviv during the adventures on which this book is based. In addition to Arabic and Hebrew, Matt speaks Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, French, and intermediate Yiddish. Visit his blog PlantingRootsBearingFruits.com to explore other overlooked aspects of life in Israel.
