We begin the book of Dvarim, Deuteronomy. Had we been able to walk a straight line, it would have taken us 11 days to arrive from Egypt, but our journey has been a spiral, not a straight line. We sometimes know where we’d like to be, how we’d like to let go, but a straight path is rarely the one we take. Tisha B’Av closely follows this Shabbat, the day we remember not only the destruction of the two Temples, but other catastrophes that our ancestors experienced. We’ll balance these losses of the past with the hope of the future, best exemplified by this service being co-led by Jerry Achtermann. Please bring a vegetarian/dairy lunch item to share. We will be upstairs in the Center Gallery as flood remediation progresses on the lower level of the UU. Please bring a vegetarian/dairy lunch item to share.
