Kol Ami — The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community

Shabbat Service led by Richard Ruth and members of Kol Ami’s High School!

February 4, 2017, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington
4444 Arlington Blvd.
Arlington, VA 22204

The Torah portion for this week, Parsha Bo, begins with words that translate:  “And God said to Moses, ‘Come to Pharaoh …’ ”  Jarring words to hear, at the political moment we’re in as a country.  Our service this Shabbat will focus on helping us come to terms with the times we’re living in – how to survive the times, and how to act – and will look to our Torah portion for ideas.

The service will be co-led by Maya Koch, Nathan Wright Bueno de Mesquita, and Richard Ruth – Kol Ami’s newly launched high school!

Look forward to some familiar prayers and some unfamiliar prayers, and an alternative version of the Amidah that focuses on respect for diversity.  We’ll be in the Chapel. Please bring food to share – we need to sustain our bodies as well as our spirits during these tense and difficult times.
