Kol Ami — The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community

Shabbat Service led by Rabbi Gilah Langner

March 5, 2016, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington
4444 Arlington Blvd.
Arlington, VA 22204

Join us for a Shabbat morning service with guest leader Rabbi Gilah Langner. We’ll daven, meditate, enjoy the music of Kol Amite musicians, and discuss how our tradition came up with a time-space continuum of its own…

Following Kiddush, Rabbi Gilah will lead us in a class related to the upcoming holiday of Purim. We’ll explore women negotiating with power, in “Two Sides of a Coin: Vashti and Esther.” How do the rabbis and modern scholars understand sex and power in the Book of Esther? And how do those understandings intersect with issues of women’s empowerment in our own day? We’ll be in the Chapel. Please remember to bring dairy vegetarian dishes for the Oneg following services.
