Kol Ami — The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community

Shabbat Service with Shirat HaNefesh

July 25, 2020, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

We are excited to welcome Pastor Segun Adebayo of Macedonia Baptist Chuch and his wife, noted activist Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, to our joint Shirat Hanefesh/Kol Ami services on July 25, to speak with us about the struggle of the church on behalf of the Moses African Cemetery.  The Church is the sole surviving institution from a once thriving African and African-American community formerly located on River Road in Bethesda.   We will learn about the community, the cemetery, the current battle with developers, and what we can do to help.  Join Rabbi Gilah and Jim North for services as we begin the final book of the Torah — Deuteronomy — on this Shabbat Hazon — the Sabbath of Vision, and prepare for the saddest date in the Jewish calendar, Tisha B’Av, on July 29/30.  Services start at 10 a.m., the speakers at 11 a.m.
