The 2019 Healing Service included a combination of prayers, poems, meditations, and songs which lifted and comforted all in attendance. Our three themes, touched on throughout, were Loving Kindness, Hope and Courage.
Everyone was encouraged to come with a healing intention or intentions – a hope or aspiration for self, a friend or loved one who was in need of healing, or the wider circle of community, nation or world. At the start of the service, we wrote these down (anonymously); then later, we read them aloud and carried them in our hearts and minds in a guided exercise led by Dr. Richard Ruth.
The Torah was chanted, and lessons were drawn from the experience of our ancestors journeying through the wilderness.
And our spirits were raised through the musical contributions of Jim North and two talented young people, Jerry Achtermann and Sarah Baumgarten. You can find the beautiful readings from our 2019 Healing Shabbat Service here:
