Interfaith Discussion Series: The Bible with and without Jesus

Kol Ami is spearheading a three-part discussion group with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, Rock Spring United Church of Christ, and Arlington Church of the Brethren. We will be reading and discussing the new book by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Avi Brettler, The Bible With and Without Jesus: How Jews and Christians Read the Same Stories Differently. Clergy from the participating congregations will serve as panelists and will facilitate small, interactive breakout sessions.

If you’re able to obtain the book (“The Bible With and Without Jesus”), please read as much of the following chapters as you’re able for each of the sessions.

The clergy will be reviewing key points in the material, so you do not have to read the chapters in order to participate:

April 14 — Chapters 1, On Bibles and Their Interpreters, and Chapter 2:  The Problem and Promise of Prophecy
April 21 — Chapter 6:  “An Eye for an Eye” and “Turn the Other Cheek”
April 28 — Chapter 7:  “Drink My Blood:” Sacrifice and Atonement

All participants, including Kol Ami members, must register below to receive the Zoom link.
