June is LGBT Pride Month. It marks the anniversary of the 1969 uprising at New York City’s Stonewall Inn, an event that galvanized the modern LGBT liberation movement. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people declared we would no longer be ashamed of who we were, and would live with pride
This year, Kol Ami will have its Second Annual Pride Shabbat. We invite all members of our community, LGBT and allies, young and old, to join together for this special Shabbat service. We will sing, pray, study the Torah, and celebrate being a Jewish community where all of us, whoever we are, feel welcome and can live with pride. Our rabbi emerita, Leila Gal Berner, will be appearing on video as our guest speaker.
This Shabbat service is being led by Richard Ruth and Sean Bender Prouty, with Pride.
