Jeremy Epstein

Jeremy Epstein is the lead program officer for the National Science Foundation’s Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program, NSF’s flagship multidisciplinary program for cybersecurity and privacy research. 

In this role, he manages an $80M/year budget, and is responsible for oversight of most academic security & privacy research in the US, with over 1000 active projects, 1500 faculty members, and 2500 graduate students.

Prior to joining NSF, he held roles at DARPA, SRI International, and in commercial software companies.  He is chair of the Association for Computing Machinery’s US Technology Policy Committee, which provides policy recommendations to government on behalf of America’s computer scientists.  He is founder/director of Scholarships for Women Studying Information Security.  After nearly 30 years at Congregation Beth Emeth in Herndon VA, he and his partner, Rabbi Julie Gordon, recently joined Kol Ami.
